On July 7, 2025, a municipal trash truck collided with the structure housing the community mail center in Milford, Delaware. The impact severely damaged the building’s support framing and exterior shell. TRG partnered with Pronest Services to lead the reconstruction effort.
Our crew began by conducting a safe structural assessment, isolating and removing all compromised framing, sheathing, and exterior metal panels. We then installed new LVL (laminated veneer lumber) support beams, rebuilt the intermediate framing, and applied fresh exterior metal siding to match the original façade. The rebuild work was completed on August 15, 2025, restoring full structural integrity and aesthetic continuity for the mail center.
Below is an in‑depth look at this commercial rebuild project and how TRG delivered expert reconstruction under tight deadlines and high standards.
After the collision, our first priority was stabilizing the structure to prevent further collapse or hazard. We cordoned off the area and conducted a detailed inspection of the damage to the primary support system. We flagged weak or cracked elements, documented the impacted zones, and developed a phased reconstruction plan that prioritized safety and functionality.
To restore the structure correctly, we carefully removed all damaged sections—this included framing members, sheathing, flashing, and exterior cladding. The removal process was staged to maintain as much structural integrity as possible while ensuring worker safety. Debris was hauled off site in compliance with local building and environmental codes.
At the core of the rebuild, we installed engineered LVL support beams to replace the failed structural components. LVL members were sized per structural calculations to handle load requirements and ensure redundancy. We installed matching intermediate framing, bolting and anchoring everything per code and engineering specs.
Once the internal framing was in place and verified, we reinstalled sheathing, moisture barriers, flashing, and exterior metal panels. The new cladding system was matched to the original design to preserve the mail center’s visual consistency within the community.
Before project handoff, we performed a full inspection of the rebuilt structure. All connections were torque‑checked, plumb and level verified, and surfaces sealed. We documented these checks and delivered them to Pronest Services and the property owner for review.
The structure was safely and fully restored in just over five weeks, minimizing downtime for the mail center.
Use of LVL supports and quality framing ensures long‑term stability and resistance to future impact or load stresses.
Aesthetic consistency was preserved, maintaining the center’s functional and visual role in the community.
The reconstruction was delivered on schedule and within scope, demonstrating TRG’s capability in commercial rebuild work.
